The Burleson Police Department is hosting its annual open house on Tuesday, May 14, 3 p.m.-6 p.m., in the front parking lot at 225 W. Renfro St. The open house will feature displays by the SWAT team, hostage negotiators, Citizens Police Academy, Citizens On Patrol, traffic unit, Burleson Police Officers Association, school resource officers, community resource officers (crime prevention) and public safety communication specialists. Police staff will offer tours of the police department. At 4 p.m. the department’s honor guard will present the colors and conduct a firing party to pay respects to all the law enforcement officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The Tri-County Auto Burglary and Theft Task Force will be at the open house with information about vehicle burglaries and auto thefts. Johnson County Crime Stoppers will also be available to answer questions.The Burleson Lions Club will offer free hot dogs and drinks to those who attend the open house.
