    Event Information

Fort Worth native Opal Lee will be in Burleson on February 17 from 10 a.m. to noon to celebrate Black History Month. Hear from Mrs. Lee during a one-on-one moderated discussion and get signed copies of her children's book afterward. The Burleson Public Library and Parks and Recreation Department will provide programming for all ages.

Copies of her children's book, "Juneteenth: A Children's Story," will be available for purchase; $25 for paperback or $45 for hardcover.

Mrs. Lee is an American retired teacher, counselor, and activist in the movement to make Juneteenth a federally recognized holiday. She is often described as the "grandmother of Juneteenth." Juneteenth was declared the eleventh federal holiday on June 17, 2021.
