General Information

Thank you for choosing Burleson. Whether you are opening or remodeling your business or building or adding to your residence, our goal is to provide you with the best service possible.

The building permits and inspection division’s mission is to facilitate the land development process by applying the highest standards of health, safety and construction industry practices. The division also provides professional and courteous customer service to new and existing developments in the city.

Mission Statement

To promote the general health, safety, welfare and overall quality of life for the citizens and visitors of the City of Burleson through timely, efficient and thorough building permitting and inspections. The department advises, guides and assists customers to achieve compliance with the Building, Zoning, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical and Energy codes, local ordinances and state laws.


In response to the approval of House Bill 852 during the 86th legislative session the fees related to residential permits have been amended.  Please follow the link above to view the new fee rates for work requiring a building permit on a residential structure.  The City Council adopted the new fee schedule along with the budget for FY 20 / 21 September 16, 2019.  These fees will go into effect on October 1, 2019.

Adopted Building Code 

City Council approved the adoption of the 2015 International Building Codes on March 4, 2019.  The Building Permits and Inspections Department will begin enforcing the new codes on April 1, 2019.
