Tommy Ludwig appointed interim city manager

Tommy Ludwig will begin serving as Burleson's Interim City Manager, effective Friday, May 19, 2023. The Burleson City Council voted to approve Ludwig's appointment during their regularly scheduled city council meeting on Monday, May 1.

As Interim City Manager, Ludwig will serve as the chief executive officer, chosen by the Burleson City Council to administrate all city affairs.

“It has been my privilege to serve as the Burleson deputy city manager for the past two years, and I am excited to continue to do so as Interim City Manager,” said Interim City Manager Tommy Ludwig. “I am grateful to the mayor and council for their trust and confidence and look forward to guiding city staff as we continue to provide the highest quality of work for the residents of Burleson.”

Ludwig has been serving as Burleson's deputy city manager since August 2021, leading various city departments, including public works, parks and recreation, human resources, and information technology. Before Burleson, Ludwig served as the assistant city administrator of Waxahachie, Texas, for four years. Before that role, he served the city of Dallas in various positions from 2008 to 2017.

"Tommy has done some terrific work and completed some substantial projects for the city during his time here," stated Mayor Chris Fletcher. "The city council and I know he will continue to lead the staff through this transition without missing a beat, and our citizens will continue to receive superior quality services from the city."

Ludwig received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and his Master of Political Science from the University of North Texas. Ludwig is a certified public manager with a Lean Six Sigma green belt certification.
