Tommy Ludwig was named Burleson's City Manager, effective Tuesday, July 11, 2023. The Burleson City Council voted unanimously to approve Ludwig's appointment during their regularly scheduled city council meeting on Monday, July 10.

As City Manager, Ludwig will serve as the chief executive officer, chosen by the Burleson City Council to administrate all city affairs.

"I am honored to be named city manager," said Tommy Ludwig. "I am grateful to the mayor and council for their trust and confidence and look forward to continuing to guide city staff as we ensure the residents of Burleson are receiving the highest quality of service."

Ludwig served as Burleson's deputy city manager since August 2021, leading various city departments, including public works, development services, public safety communications, parks and recreation, human resources, and information technology. He has been serving as the interim city manager since May 19, after the role was vacated by former city manager Bryan Langley who took the city manager role in Kyle, Texas.

Before Burleson, Ludwig served as executive director of development services and assistant city manager during a four year tenure in Waxahachie. Prior to that role, he served the city of Dallas in various positions from 2008 to 2017.

"Tommy has led the team through the city manager transition without missing a beat. I know he will continue providing superior services to our community," stated Mayor Chris Fletcher. "City council and I are excited to work with him and staff as we prepare for Burleson's future."

Ludwig received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and his Master of Political Science from the University of North Texas. Ludwig is a certified public manager with a Lean Six Sigma green belt certification.
