BPD Teen Academy

The Burleson Police Department will be holding the Teen Police Academy this summer from June 23 - June 27 at the Burleson Police Department. Class this year will start at 9 a.m. and will be finished by 3 p.m. Topics will include Crime Scene Investigation, Accident Investigation, Crime Analyst, Narcotics Investigation, History of Law Enforcement, Dangers of One Pill/Can Kill, Patrol Procedures, SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Drone Operations, Criminal Investigations Section and more. Students will also get to hear presentations from the Burleson Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety and more. Students will get to participate in working a mock crime scene, defensive tactics, mock traffic stops, & more.

Any student that has been arrested for anything Class B Misdemeanor and above will not be eligible to attend. This class is intended for students interested in law enforcement and is restricted to students that are entering 8th grade through graduating seniors.

The students will be required to dress appropriately. This includes no shorts (except on physical training days), tank tops, clothing with holes, flip flops, etc. Clothing should be pants, appropriate shirt, and close toed shoes. Students will get a one-hour lunch break each day and lunch will be provided. Students will be expected to be respectful at all times and to conduct themselves as young adults.

This program is completely free, and students need to fill out an application and waiver form. Once completed, you may upload your signed forms or drop them off in person. All forms should be turned into the Burleson Police Department or submitted online no later than May 31st, 2025. If you have any questions or need an application and waiver form, email Officer V.
