[ARCHIVED] May 1 City Election – Important Dates

Voters will have their first opportunity to cast a ballot for the city’s local election starting at 8 a.m. Monday, April 19.

Important Dates & Times: 

  • April 19 – 23: Early voting from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
  • April 20: Last day to receive application for mail ballot
  • April 24: Early voting from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. 
  • April 26 – April 27: Early voting from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. 
  • May 1: Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. 

All voting will take place in the city council chambers at Burleson City Hall, 141 W. Renfro, Burleson. 

Information on voting in Texas including accepted ID’s. 

Burleson voters will have their choice of nine candidates in three races this spring as a mix of political veterans and newcomers face off in the May 1 local election. All Burleson City Council seats are elected at-large for three-year terms. 

In Place 1, voters will have three options to choose from: Victoria Johnson, David O’Connor and incumbent Stuart Gillaspie.

Place 3 has four candidates, Matthew Gee, Jimmy Stanford, incumbent Katherine Reading and Bertina A. Else. 

In Place 5, incumbent Dan McClendon is being challenged by Melissa Tinkle. 

Vote by mail eligibility and information:
Citizens are eligible to vote by mail in the local election if they are 65 years old or older, disabled, will be out of the county on Election Day and during early voting or confined in jail, but otherwise eligible. 

How to get a ballot by mail:
Fill out application for ballot by mail from the City of Burleson election site and mail to any of the following locations

  • City of Burleson, City Secretary, 141 W Renfro, Burleson, TX 76028
  • Johnson County Elections Administrator, Patty Bourgeois, PO Box 895, Cleburne, TX 76033
  • Tarrant County Election Administrator, Heider I. Garcia, PO Box 961011, Fort Worth, TX 76161
