[ARCHIVED] Winter Weather Closure and Updates

Winter Weather

City facilities will be closed Thursday, February 24, due to inclement weather. Essential city operations will still be performing duties.

City administration and the communications team will be monitoring the situation and updating the public. As always, our public safety crews are ready to serve our community and are prepared with ice melt, snowplow blade and sanders.

Here are some things to know

• Waste Collections has canceled trash and recycling services for Thursday, Feb. 24. Trash collection will be on the next scheduled collection day, Monday, February 28. Next recycle collection will be Thursday, March 3.
•  The BRiCk will close early today, February 23, at 8pm and a Friday morning opening time will be evaluated tomorrow.
• The city has made  preparations if there are prolonged power outages in the city to operate the Burleson Recreation Center as a warming station. Other facilities are also prepared to assist as warming stations.
• If possible, please stay off the roads.
• If you must travel, slow down and maintain at least three time the normal following distance on snow or ice.
• Use extra caution on bridges, ramps, overpasses and shaded areas, as they tend to freeze first.
• Remove snow and ice from your vehicle before driving and ensure your headlights and taillights are working properly.
