Winter Weather Update #3 Jan. 31 at 5 p.m.
Trash and Recycling
Waste Connection has informed the city that they plan to run trash routes ONLY on Thursday (Feb. 2) and Friday (Feb. 3). To focus on ensuring trash collection, they will be suspending recycling collection this week. Your next recycling day will be during the week of Feb. 6 - 10. Trash routes will be slow on Thursday and Friday and may run behind, please leave your trash out, and it will be collected (collections will continue through Saturday, Feb. 4, if needed). Bulk trash collection this week will be picked up, but it is not guaranteed to be collected by noon on Friday. Please leave your bulk collection at the curb and it will be collected. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this winter weather event.
City Facilities
All city facilities will remain closed on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
Roads
Public Works crews are working 24 hours a day to maintain major thoroughfares in the city. Overnight the roads are expected to refreeze, potentially causing roads to become like sheets of ice. This will affect all roads in the community, even Wilshire Boulevard, Renfro Street and John Jones Street. Please stay off the roads tonight and early morning until the situation can be accessed. If you have to travel, please utilize extreme caution.
Warming Stations
Currently, the BRiCk is not planned to be opened as a warming shelter on Wednesday, Feb. 1. If widespread power outages occur, we will reopen.
Other Resources
- Tarrant County will offer cold weather shelter at existing emergency shelters located at Union Gospel Mission (1321 E. Lancaster, Fort Worth), Presbyterian Night Shelter (2400 Cypress, Fort Worth)
- The Salvation Army Mabee Center (1855 E. Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth).
- Johnson County, The Salvation Army, 111 S. Anglin Street, Cleburne 817-558-1296
Power Outages
There is a concern about the accumulation of ice on powerlines and trees that may cause power outages. Emergency Management is monitoring this situation in our community.
If your power goes out, contact your electric provider

If you have an issue at your home or business with flooding or busted pipes and need to contact the city to turn off your water, don't hesitate to contact the city's non-emergency number, 817-426-9903.
