Budget Process
Burleson city staff works throughout the spring and summer to prepare a budget for the new fiscal year that begins on October 1. The City Manager's proposed budget is built through multiple presentations and work session meetings with City Council from June through August. City Council reviews, discuses and provides direction on the budget and property tax rate during these meetings. Public hearings on the proposed budget and property tax rate are held prior to its adoption by the City Council each September. Public hearings and City Council approval are also required to revise the annual budget after it has been adopted.
Proposed FY 2023/24 Budget
The proposed budget for FY 2023-24 funds all of the city services that residents have come to expect, while reducing the tax rate and continuing our focus on public safety and street improvements.

- Aug. 15, 2023 - Council Special Session to discuss budget, tax rate and set the date and time for the public hearing on budget and tax rate
- Sept. 5, 2023 - Public hearing on budget and tax rate and first reading of ordinances to approve the budget and the tax rate
- Sept. 11, 2023 - Final reading of the ordinances to approve the budget and tax rate
