[ARCHIVED] City Council Affirms Current Solid Waste and Recycling Contract Through 2029

City Council Affirms Current Solid Waste and Recycling Contract Through 2029

At the February 3 council meeting, a presentation was given regarding proposed changes to the city’s waste and recycling contract. After careful consideration, the council decided to maintain the current terms of the contract until its expiration in September 2029.

Looking ahead, it's important to note that when the contract expires and the city goes out for proposals, there is a likelihood that major waste management companies may no longer offer competitive proposals that include loose trash bag and twice-a-week collection.

The discussions around the solid waste and recycling contract were initiated to explore potential ways to alleviate the fees that residents currently face.

City council listened to feedback from residents and determined that, at this time, there is no significant interest in modifying solid waste and recycling services.
