Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock presented the City of Burleson with the Texas Comptroller’s Transparency Star Award in Public Pensions during the December 15, 2025, Burleson City Council meeting, recognizing the City’s commitment to open government and accessible financial information.
The award honors Burleson’s efforts to make pension-related data clear, comprehensive, and readily available to residents, ensuring taxpayers can easily understand how public funds are managed.
During the presentation, Hancock praised the City’s dedication to transparency and accountability.
“We want to recognize your team who chose to make this a priority for your city,” Hancock said. “Congratulations on your willingness to step out and provide transparency.”
The Public Pensions Transparency Star marks Burleson’s third Transparency Star, joining previous recognitions in Traditional Finances and Debt Obligations. The City has also submitted documentation for a fourth star, which focuses on open records and state-level transaction transparency, and is awaiting notification from the Comptroller’s office.
The Transparency Stars program, administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, recognizes local governments that go above and beyond statutory requirements by providing residents with clear, meaningful access to financial data.
