2015 International Fire Code Adopted
The City of Burleson has adopted a model code known as the International Fire Code, which is published by the International Code Council Inc. This model code has been amended in part to reflect the local needs of the community. The City has also adopted, as a part of its fire code, the published set of standards from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Download Ordinance CSO#994-03-2019 adopting the 2015 edition of the International Fire Code (PDF).
The adopted codes are equally applied and jointly enforced by the fire marshal's office and the building official's office. All development projects, new building construction, and remodel construction are reviewed by the building official and fire marshal for compliance to fire and building standards and for health and life safety provisions.
Low Rating
The City takes pride in the fact that our building and fire code provisions help ensure a low rating from the Insurance Services Office (ISO). The low rating, combined with an excellent water distribution and storage system, a professionally staffed fire department that includes career and volunteer personnel, and a low fire experience history, can help the business community maintain a minimum overhead in regard to fire insurance premiums. A recent ISO rating study awarded the City of Burleson a number three rating, with 1 being the best and 10 being the worst rating.
